I realize one must be careful regarding incurring legal action, but claiming the seller of the balance wrist band was sincere in his claims seem excessive. After all, demonstrating the efficacy of the hologram-laden talisman involves a specific technique/methodology.
While one can readily demonstrate divining as being influenced by involuntary muscle actions, the specific vector application of force would have to be deliberate for it to be repeatable.
Anyone can dowse with minimal instructions, but the demonstration of balance, and the absence of, relating to a talisman would have to be learned for it to have any repeatability, and therefore be convincing to the intended idiot(*)customer.
Then again, I have not done much research on the matter; I'm one of them "logic skeptics" so much derided and looked down-upon these days.
(*)Note: legal disclaimer; "idiot" in the context of this post is used as a diminutive indicating the writer really cares for the well-being of the subject.
