  • Hi Nev,

    Thanks for your comments.

Actually, Elvira Brunt was treating the girl for cancer and this was one of her therapies. The girl Samantha, was suffering from kidney failure as a result of cancer.

    From the Adelaide Now article;

"The first mention of Brunt was in a submission from the Australian Medical Association, which claims that she tried to convince the parents of a young leukaemia victim, Samantha, to delay giving her treatment...At one point, Brunt urged him to feed Samantha KFC chicken to get her kidneys functioning again."

Do you know the work of Elvira Brunt?

    Cheers

    Rachael

  • Aside from this podcast I've never heard of Elvira Brunt, though i'm not sure why it is relevant. I fail to see how your quoting of an article that suggests she was attempting to repair kidney function in any way helps you establish a case that she was "claiming to cure cancer by prescribing KFC".

  • Really enjoyed the Dragoncon panel. Had already listened to the 2GB show. Funny I had a work colleague that treated a dog with homeopathy whenI asked what they used it was arnica (so not technically homeopathy anyway).

  • Dr Rachie you've done it again!..

Back on 09 April you reported on a woman in an Adelaide alternative
medicine clinic who told the father of a girl dying of cancer to feed his
daughter KFC because it would improve her kidney function'.  Links to your
original report and the original newspaper article you quoted from can be
found on the sceptic zone website.

Then I listen to this podcast, which includes audio from the 2GB segment
where you proclaim to the audience that the woman was "claiming she could
cure cancer by prescribing KFC to patients".

    EPIC FAIL.

  • That link to the 2gb segment on the Aus Skeptics site currently doesn't work, just so you know.
    cheers
