  • Richard's old Youtube username (riedsa) was the best clue most of us ever had to figuring out what his middle name is. Obviously "Ri" from Richard and "Sa" from Saunders, and there are several male names starting with "Ed" but only one of them is common, so in my psychic act I would go with Edward.

  • Great show as usual guys.
\"Scarifying\" is a legitimate word, though. A quick look in a medical dictionary will get you the meaning of scarification. The SMH journo may have been using it figuratively, rather than literally, thus displaying impressive erudition.
For example: \'You wouldn\'t want to scarify the public\'s faith in your scholarship, by ridiculing perfectly legitimate vocabulary.\'

  • Wow, I just got an email from Dr(?) Isaac Golden after I posted a polite request for references for his claims about the Cuban cure for leptospirosis. The claim is popping up everywhere - for instance:

    http://www.homeopathy.ac.nz/editorials/vol-29-no-4-september-2009-compelling/

I gave him a link to a quackometer article on the claim, and he thought that his comment would not published: but of course its mostly people like the AVN that don't accept counter arguement on their forums. His comment is on the blog:

    http://www.quackometer.net/blog/2009/01/hasta-el-absurdo-siempre.html#comments .

In his email, he claims: "There are 3 articles being prepared about the episode and will be published in different journals around the world.

If you ask me again in a month will have more details (Not appropriate for me to send you before publication)"

Riiight - not appropriate right now before publication, but he is talking it up in public.

I have a reminder set to follow up in a month. Anyone want to take a bet that the study will actually be accepted into 3 peer reviewed journals and that it will show homeopathy curing disease? ;) We shall see.
