  • Great little interview -- would be good to get some more local news in though? I kind of like the Think Tank round-up more than interviews, if there's only a short show.

Not that Moriel wasn't cool, it's just that there didn't seem to be really much happening beyond 'she has a site'. Stories about 'check this blog' or 'contribute to wiki' or 'see their cool skeptic site' are kind of overdone now and anyone can get a YouTube or skeptic-what-the-harm Jenny McCarthy Oprah site going, it's not that big a deal anymore.

Maybe it's just overkill but skeptics doing internet stuff isn't really something that gets me interested anymore -- I kind of prefer real-world issues like health and science news. We all know it's easy to get on the internet but the big hurdle is beyond that and the Skeptic Zone showed that by doing real-world lectures and things that don't just rely on 'I have a site'.

Of course, there's a place for the internet, but there's nothing really that spectacular in comparison to an author or a science journalist or a TV personality. I'd like to see some more about Richard Saunders or Eran Segev, like the Dr Rachael Dunlop interview, for example? More about the people who do the show? Or interview Dave Happy Singer or some of the Think Tank regulars?

Will the Skeptic Zone interview Dick Smith from the Sydney Skeptics talk? That's a good example of someone from the past who should be learned more from in terms of what they did before the internet.

Good show, Moriel was great and I liked her on the Tank vodcast too -- but I'd like to see more of Australia's back-yard first! :)

  • Hi guys,

Great interview Richard, Moriel sounded like she really knew her stuff while also being great fun, so I decided to check out her site, www.smarterthanthat.com. It's a really good site, a nice mix of experiments, techical info and it doesn't hurt that Moriel is very cute. But the highlight has to be the pie in the face at TAM 6. Those rainbow braces - Richard, what were you thinking? Lol!
