  • Hey Chris,

I have read the book a few times and even though I am Australian I had no trouble understanding the references. I think the publishers might be underestimating the reach of some of these issues as well as the amount of international exposure they get on podcasts etc. And you read Bad Science anyway so it wouldn't be an issue for you obviously. We had the UK version released here, so either the Aussie publishers were too lazy to adapt it or they assumed we would get it.

Good to hear you have been following Ratbag.

    Cheers

  • I guess I'm the other American who read Bad Science. A few references went over my head, but I managed fine. One of the best books I've read in a while.

  • Great episode. I appreciate the extended interview with Ben. One thing that I found quite amusing was the fact that the American publisher (potential?) wanted him to "Americanize" the book.

I though the whole point of reading a book novel or otherwise was to experience the views, style story of the writer.

Does this requst for changing the book require Ben to alter any colloqiallisms he might use?

  • Hi Sean, thanks once again for the compliments. I thought the interview was particularly interesting for Ben's opinion of the swell of support from the sceptical community. Especially his comments about us all being of "sound mind".

I'm not sure about altering the colloqiallisms, but I guess the publishers want more home grown stories for the American release.

    Cheers, Rachie.
