- If you've listened to the Skeptic Zone for a while, you'd remember that Maynard has talked about Adam Curry & No Agenda since he first joined the team, complete with warnings that he couldn't help listening to it despite the crazy conspiracy theories. He's often used it as an example of things you can't help wondering about, despite them being implausible.
Every now & then in my skeptics group we run across the conspiracy theory type (since they also consider themselves skeptics). It's good to keep track of the common threads that keep popping up in their conversation in order to counter them. - Adam Curry is an avid supporter of Jenny McCarthy and anti-vaccination. Claiming that you 'can't research everything' isn't an excuse: many of us have spotted the mistake.
No offense to Maynard who is a great personality as an interviewer but he clearly doesn't do research and 'wings it' with his questions rather than demonstrate skepticism. The standard of Skeptic Zone has gone down recently overall in that regard in all segments. Maybe take a break and come back with what you used to feature and with less ad hoc tangential 'bits'. - CJ I am a regular listener to NA and have been for years. I don't always agree with John & Adam on issues, but I like being given a view of the world that is as far as it can be from the Channel 9 news.
It would annoy many, but it makes my tiny ape brain think about the reason and way media is presented.
John C Dvorak & Adam Curry would definately consider themselves sceptics and when challenged would present their evidence. - Adam once (2 or 3 years back) had a morning radio show here in the Netherlands. He did some really wonderful reporting, actually interviewing people connected to news stories that would normally never get broadcast.
Unfortunately he also did a lot of really insane stories the worst being the 'car runs on water' scam.
He actually let such a device be built in his car and claimed it improved milage. No actual scientists were harmed (or involved) in that disaster. - Maynard did you listen to No Agenda before interviewing Adam Curry? His show seems to be a collection of bizarre conspiracy theories with no evidence.
I'm hoping that since the interview was on the Spooky Action segment, it was done as an example of the weird things people believe like psychics and the efficacy of power bands.
A lot of thought goes into the show, but precious little of it is skeptical.
